Preschool
By the age of four, most children seem to have a special feel for rhythm and this is a perfect age to encourage them. Classes are available which include tap, tumbling, pre-ballet and exercises for self expression, basic coordination and child personality work.
tap
Tap dancing is perhaps the most fundamental dance form for teaching children to coordinate to music. Regardless of the final area of specialization, every dancer needs a background in tap. It’s a way to have fun and develop a sense of rhythm and coordination at the same time.
jazz
Jazz is one of the most exciting of the dance forms. Most dances seen on television and in movies consist of adaptations of funk, hip hop or jazz. Jazz is a dance form that encourages self-expression and creativity for children of all ages.
Ballet
Ballet should be a part of every young girl’s education. The poise and grace from ballet class will last her a lifetime. Ballet training at Bohaty’s is based on the Cecchetti method which enables serious students to pass graded exams. Additional classes include non-syllabus ballet technique and pointe work.
Lyrical/Modern
After passing one Cecchetti exam, we encourage dancers to add lyrical to obtain fluid movement for their dance education.
Acrobatics/tumbling/gymnastics
The very best training for agility and body control. Mats, belts, mini-tramps and take-off boards insure students’ safety while obtaining the most difficult tricks. Bohaty’s tum-bling system, developed by a Junior Olympic coach, is the most developed and successful program of any other dance studio in the Mid-Michigan area. A must for girls competing for cheerleading, drill teams or competitive sports.
Pointe work
This beautiful form of dance is available to the serious dancer who has passed at least two Cecchetti ballet exams.
hip-hop
A high energy, playful form of dance for children 12 years of age or dance experienced.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a fun, high energy class! It combines the skills of dancing, singing and acting.
